Freestyle’s exclusive Marathon Chemicals are the educator’s answer to high-quality, low-cost bulk B&W chemicals for the school darkroom photo program.

The Marathon B&W Chemical Sample Kit includes one 32 oz. bottle of the four main Marathon chemicals:

Marathon Liquid Film Developer is used in processing Black & White photographic film. It is usually the first step, after exposure and loading tanks or trays with your film, prior to stop, fixing, and wash steps. Excellent quality results with all black and white films. Times for most films available online.

Marathon Liquid Paper Developer is used in processing Black & White photographic paper. It is the first step, after exposure, prior to stop, fixing, and wash steps. Using a phenidone based developer means longer tray life, better tonal range and richer blacks as well as more user friendly for metol sensitive students.

Marathon Indicating Stop Bath is used in processing Black & White photographic film and paper. It is used after the developer, to stop the development, prior to fixing and wash steps. Acetic Acid stop baths stop development almost instantly and provide more control than a water bath. Marathon Indicating Stop Bath is odorized with a vanilla scent and changes color to indicate exhaustion.

Marathon Hi Speed Fixer is used in processing Black & White photographic film & paper. It is the last step before washing your film or paper. This is a standard, non-hardening, rapid fixer compatible with all black and white film and papers.

Marathon Archival Wash (not included in sample pack) is used in processing Black & White photographic film and paper. It is the final step in the process and is more effective than water alone to wash out contaminants and microbes from your medium.

These are premium bulk chemicals and have been tested and used by educators from all over the U.S.

Economical 1:9 dilutions for all chemicals make for simple dispensing to students.
