Photography Camp for Kids at RayKo Photo Center

Age: 10-18 (9 year olds by permission of instructor)
Hours: 9am-4pm.
Drop off 8:30-9am, extended care available 4-6pm. You may request after care from 4-6pm each day by emailing the instructor at victoriaheilweil at gmail dot com. After care is included in the camp fee.
Cost: $450
Included are all materials and the use of a film camera, campers must supply a digital camera.
Does your child have a passion for taking pictures? This week long camp will give your child the opportunity to go deeper by exploring their own personal vision and creating a portfolio of original photographs.
Your child will learn and investigate a variety of photographic process, techniques and styles. We will be using digital cameras and inkjet printing as well as traditional black and white film, processing and darkroom printing. The camp is suitable for beginners to more advanced students, and each camper will be taught and challenged based on their own individual abilities and skill level by a professional photographer and experienced instructor. Topics covered include: camera functions, digital and traditional printing, sunprints and photograms, using a scanner as a camera, photographic composition, abstraction, self-portraits, combining image and text, mounting and presenting photographs.
We will study famous photographs for inspiration, and a have at least one shooting field trip during the week. Each day your child will be exposed to new photographic concepts to stimulate their creativity through two to three different activities. Camp is a maximum of 12 students, so there will be significant individual attention given to your child’s interests, abilities and vision. Your child will be stimulated, challenged and have a lot of fun exploring photography!

In terms of a sick camper/family emergency/ last min our cancellation policy is "Full Refunds will be granted less than 15 days before the class starts for excruciating circumstances WITH PROOF (ie: illness, family emergency, death etc)Rayko will have to cancel class if we have not met the minimum of 4 students by May 20.
Instructor Bio:
Victoria Heilweil is a nationally exhibited fine art photographer. Her work has been included in exhibitions in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York City and Virginia. Victoria holds a Masters in Photography from California College of the Arts, and has taught college level photography and design classes for the past 15 years. Victoria also has many years of experience teaching photography to children at both an arts based summer camp on the East Coast and at a community arts program in Walnut Creek. She is a mom to a funny and inquisitive 6-year-old daughter.
