This magazine accepts both of Mamiya's interchangeable 120 and 220 film inserts (thanks to a simple rotatable pressure plate built in), and is a crucial part of the 645 system. It has an automatic film advance, so there is no need for you to align the film to a "start mark" like you might find on older cameras. With a simple push of a button, the magazine's LCD panel displays your film speed, film type, and the number of exposures remaining on your roll. It also has an internal backlight for when you need to view information in low-light conditions. The magazine also features Mamiya's famous dark slide fail-safe operation which prevents accidental film exposure whether the magazine is attached to the 645AFD's body or not.
